Who am I?

I’m Emil Boysen, a Sports Engineering MSc student at Sheffield Hallam University with a passion for connecting engineering, biomechanics, and human performance. I am motivated by the challenge of understanding how technology and design can meaningfully improve the way athletes move, train, and compete.

With a foundation in Sports Science from Aalborg University, I work where sport and engineering meet, using 3D motion capture, Python based modeling, and CAD design to develop smarter and more insightful sports technologies. I enjoy taking complex performance problems and turning them into clear, measurable, and practical solutions.

I am a bilingual Danish American who thrives on curiosity, creativity, and challenge, whether I am cycling, golfing, or exploring new ideas in sports technology. Personal growth has shaped much of my journey. At eighteen, I moved from the United States to Denmark on my own, adapting to the culture and fully immersing myself in the language. Through persistence and commitment, I reached a level of Danish that allowed me to study and complete my bachelor’s degree in it.

My pursuit of new experiences continued when I moved to England to complete my master’s degree, once again stepping into a new environment, developing new connections, and pushing myself both academically and personally. I have also expanded my perspective through solo travel, spending two months exploring Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. These experiences strengthened my independence, adaptability, and willingness to embrace the unfamiliar, qualities that are central to the way I approach engineering and problem solving.

Today, I bring that same mindset to every project: open minded, driven, and always focused on pushing the boundaries of athletic and technological performance.
